Bonhams gets the New Year under way with a sale of Urban Art next Tuesday which features ten works by the notorious Banksy, whose market is looking for signs of revival after it lost steam in the recessionary downturn. The star lot is Banksy’s 'Save or Delete Jungle Book’, 2001, which was commissioned by Greenpeace for its 'Save or Delete’ campaign against deforestation. The double sided work, estimated at £60,000 to £80,000, shows a group of characters from Disney’s Jungle Book lined up in front of an axe wielding executioner set in a devastated forest landscape. Intended for use on posters, billboards and postcards, it was never distributed because, states the auction catalogue, 'of the protectionist policies at Disney.’
